Car radio Pioneer Blaupunkt and Internet radio provider miRoamer are bringing Internet radio to your vehicle with the Hamburg 600i and New Jersey 600i. These prototypes of the world’s first internet card radios were presented at this year’s International CES. The joint venture is working to provide drivers with more than 30,000 premium station of music, news and sports, all streaming from around the globe. The technology will allow users to search music by popularity, genre and keywords, also to manage settings and presets via the Web.
Using Bluetooth, the stereos connect to the Internet via your phone’s 3G connection. Both models include USB and auxiliary ports for connecting and MP3 player for plug-and-play use, and they support Bluetooth calling, letting you dial right on the stereo’s alphanumeric keypad. The New Jersey model sports a double-DIN design, while the Hamburg model is a more compact single-DIN unit. Available starting in the second half of 2009, the stereos will sell for around $300 to $400.
