If you want to connect to online business/trade you have to be careful from fraud activities. They can steal your money with any tricks and you will not know until you have lost your money. The fraudster usually try to utilize the psychological shock and make the potential victims ignore their common sense. The following information may be can help you, how to prevent fraud activities from the internet.

1. Sweepstakes and Lottery

Many of us often receiving email which is confirm us that we are the winner of online sweepstakes or lottery, “Congratulation, you have won an online sweepstakes from … ”. Usually the fraudster claim their self from Yahoo, Microsoft, etc. The fraudster will ask you to transfer the money to pay the Tax or Shipping and handling.

Preventing : Never trust them or send the money to them before you can confirm the legitimate of that email.

2. Fake Business

This activities i call it MLM (Multi Level Marketing), usually you have to recruit member. Not only MLM, HYIP (High Yield Investment Program) also included in this fake business. HYIP is not investment business, but I will agree if it’s called “Money Game”, even if some of them paid their member but it will not be long until you trust them and invest more money to them and they will steal all your money.

Preventing : It is nothing, there is no method to get the money with easy way. You need to verify, who is the responsible person for that investment program, how long they have been?. Whether they have incorporated company which is legitimate their existence?. How about the physical contact information?. How can you reach them?.

3. Phishing

It’s attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites, auction sites, online payment processors or IT Administrators are commonly used to lure the unsuspecting public. Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging, and it often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one. Even when using server authentication, it may require tremendous skill to detect that the website is fake. Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users, and exploits the poor usability of current web security technologies. Attempts to deal with the growing number of reported phishing incidents include legislation, user training, public awareness, and technical security measures.

Preventing : Do not ever click the link in your email, always check the URL before login. Ex : You want to login to Yahoo Mail, make sure the URL is http://mail.yahoo.com.

4. Pay To Program

You will get a good offer from that program which will pay you if you click email and banner. Some of them will pay for this but mostly not. The characteristic of the fake program is make a limited amount to withdraw your earning, they will try to limit the amount to withdraw, for example : limit amount $100, you can not withdraw your earn money until you get $100 in your account, because they know you will never get that amount of money.

Preventing : Do not apply to this program, you will lost your time and a bit of money for your internet connection. But if you are interesting, always to check any forum which is discuss this program, try to find out who was paid from this program.

5. Money Laundry

You have an incoming email which is tell you that someone who was claimed as a heir need your help to checkout their inheritance from your bank’s account. The fact is there is no money or inheritance. The money was came from illegal activity and you will get to jail.

Preventing : Do not ever take a deal with this offer.

6. Hacking and Cracking

Suddenly you can not login to your email, you got wrong password message, meanwhile you have type your correct password. Or another case, you have found your Paypal account or Credit card account has limited access. If you ever made online transaction from internet, then I bet your account have been hacked or cracked by someone.

Preventing : Make sure you have a good Antivirus and never access your online banking account from internet which is not from your private computer.

7. Fake Email Services Provider

If you got an offering about email services that offering you with fantastic feature and benefit, for example : unlimited capacity, anonymous, even if you will get some money if you register on that email services, I guarantee they are fakes. They only want to steal your private data.

Preventing : Do not ever to register to their email services until you can verify it. Do not ever using the same password if you have more than 1 email or another account. For example : You have 1 email in Yahoo and 1 email in Gmail and you have Paypal account and Ebay account. Do not use the same password to each of that account.

8. Chain or Hoax Email

If you ever received an email which is advising you to forward that email to another person as much as you can and they threaten or promise something. Most of them are fakes and a liar.

Preventing : Do not ever to forward these email unless you can proof it logically.

-Do not ever trust anybody from internet, unless you know them very well.
