We know that a performance of a notebook or a laptop is important, as a part of a them, The Processor is the mostly important part the Notebook/Laptop. It works with the operating system to control the computer as it’s the Computer’s brain. The Processor (CPU) produces a lot of heat from its Process, so that needs a cooler fan and heat sink as an air circulator and cooler to reduce the temperature of Processor. This cooler and heat sink methods is an effective way to reduce the laptop’s temperature since the laptop has less physical room space of its casing box. And the following is what the CPU usually able to do:

  • It’s workings on a lower voltage and clock speed, will affect to reduce heat output and power consumption, but will make to slow down the Processor. Generally, most of Notebooks or Laptops run at a higher voltage and clock speed when plugged to the power supply, but has a lower setting when uses the battery.
  • The CPU are able to mounts to motherboards without pins, as Pins and Sockets take up a lot of room in desktop Computer (PC). Some Motherboard Processor mounts directly to the Motherboard without having to use a socket. Another use a Micro-FCBGA (Flip Chip Ball Grid Array), which is using balls instead of pins. The design absolutely saves room space rather than using pins, but in other cases as in a laptop or notebook the Processor unable to be removed from the Motherboard for replacement or upgrading.
  • Available in sleep or slow-down mode, when the Computer is not in use or the Processor does not need to run as quickly, the Computer and Operating System will work together to reduce the speed of CPU. For example: A Processor of Apple G4 which has a priority to minimize battery drain.

Some Notebooks or Laptops use a desktop CPU that is set to work at lower clock speeds. These Laptops or Notebooks typically run more hot and have a significantly reduced battery life even though the use of desktop CPU can improve the performance.

Generally, Laptops and Notebooks usually have a small internal fans, heat sinks, heat spreaders or heat pipes to keep the Laptop CPU temperature normal steady. Some of the latest model of Laptop has a liquid coolant kept in channels alongside the heat pipe. Furthermore, all Laptops CPU is near the edge of the unit. It will allow the internal fan to blow the heat out of the laptop case instead of keeping the temperature of other components.
