Sometime we will need to backup our data to any external device storage when we found our Computer have limited amount of space to store our data. But you can solve that problem if you have a storage device such as External Hard Drive, that will not a problem as long as your external hard drive have enough space to backup your files from Computer. However that will be a problem when your external hard drive also has been full. There are 2 options to solve this case, by buy new Hard Drive or buy a couple of CD/DVD blank as i believe this the cheapest way to solve this case.

Well, i will not talk too much about this as we will start the lesson about How to backup your files to DVD. First, you will need the following tools :

1. Windows XP or Vista

2. DVD RW Drive, make sure it’s rewriteable drive which is able to burn the DVD.

3. DVD blank, this is depend on your needs, as we know that 1 pieces of DVD blank have a capacity up to 4.7 Gigabyte. If you want to backup files i.e: 40 GB, then you will need at least 10 DVD blank.

After preparing the above tools then we can start the burning process:

1. Enter your DVD blank into your Re-writeable DVD ROM drive

2. Go to “My Computer” if you are using XP, or “Computer” if you are using Vista.

3. Find the files you want to backup and drag-drop to your DVD drive. i.e: if your DVD drive is a “D:\” then you should drag and drop the files to the “D:\” drive.

4. Then you will see the window appear in front of, and you will be asked to fill the field name as like as you want. i.e: name it as “Backups1 Date12Aug2009″.

5. Then click OK to start the backup process. Then the DVD ROM will start the backup process.

6. After finishing the backup process, the window will showing you the data that has been copied to your DVD blank.

7. Eject the DVD, but it will takes little longer to wait the DVD ejected the Disc as Windows will needs time to prepare the disc so it can be read by any system.

8. When the DVD has been ejected, then you have done with your Backup Process.

If you still have a large amount of files you want to backup, you just need to repeat the above steps. Hope it can help.
