Mostly, any parental-control softwares works by protecting your computer from accessing forbidden websites or using unauthorized apps when children are logged in. However, Checkstick controls and monitors your children’s internet activity and usage rather than blocking anything, it’s also allows you to see what they’ve been up to. Spysure software apps has a similar function as this parental-control apps.
Checkstick lives on a USB memory key, which allows the user to start the application when plugged in. The setup process is straightforward, but if you get stuck, the Help stage includes a video that tells the process.
The monitoring method is limited only to listing websites visited, instant messenger conversations and emails. As with Spysure, though, emails are only shown if they are sent from a program such as Outlook Express. However, any emails that are sent from a web system, like Hotmail can not be read, although you can see how long was spent on each of email or social networking website. The other benefit is that the Checkstick takes snapshots of the screen every few seconds, so you can see exactly what was happening. Also, the apps will continue to run even if the USB key is removed, and it will operates in hidden mode when the uSB key is not plugged in.
Checkstick is good but has a limited function to monitoring only parts of what children do online. Parenting related to the internet is a personal problem but we would prefer to also block certain sites requiring extra software, a one-stop apps would have been more helpful
