expand wifi

We are often required to expand a wireless network coverage area that already exists for all users, because there are often some unspoiled areas with wireless service that is needed, there are several techniques, among others, increasing the Tx power of wireless radios that already exists, and the second is to make a repeater / WDS. The function of these repeaters is to strengthen the existing signal in order to expand the scope of coverage area. The benefit of this repeater is not need any cable to connect to the radio repeater device / access point source. A repeater receives a signal from an access point and transmiting back without changing the content of it, so this repeater is usually placed in the middle between access points and the furthest user, so this repeater useful to overcome the problem of signal attenuation.

There are a few tips for implementing a repeaters:

- When you buy a wifi radio device, make sure it’s supported with repeaters or regular feature called WDS (Wireless Distribution System). Not all wireless radios can be used as a repeater. WDS facilities usually recommended its use to a fellow vendor / brand or common firmware. There is another feature commonly called the “Universal Repeater”, this has a special features, with this feature, you can communicate with the access point even though has different sources of vendors / brands. There is a lot of radio has this feature, such as Engenius Senao ECB 3220, Edimax 7206, Zinwell ZW2194, Tplink WA501, and Minitar MWGAR.

  • Make sure the position of the repeater must be able to receive a strong signal from the access point sources, the stronger the signal received, the better it can re-transmiting.
  • Configure the access point with the repeater sources to have the same SSID and Channel.
  • It should be better if you equate the type of subnet IP address of the access point with repeater sources, also it would be better you use a static IP address.
  • For the WDS feature, enter the MAC address of each access point with the repeater sources.
  • Update the firmware of each wireless radio in order to avoid the bugs that arise later.

However, there are to consider the negative side of the use of repeaters would reduce the throughput capacity of our wireless network 50% of them, because the repeater must receive and transmit back the data packet in a same channel, the result would increase the capacity of the frame across a wireless network, especially if we use the repeater in significant amounts, the more amount of repeaters, the more lower its quality, because each repeater will duplicate frames that was sent.

  1. You need think about it. Despite the emails, the overwhelming evidence showing global warming is happening hasn’t changed.
“The e-mails do nothing to undermine the very strong scientific consensus . . . that tells us the Earth is warming, that warming is largely a result of human activity,” Jane Lubchenco, who heads the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told a House committee. She said that the e-mails don’t cover data from NOAA and NASA, whose independent climate records show dramatic warming.
