Some experts have speculated that the phenomenon was probably caused by a Russian rocket launches. However, the Russian Embassy confirms such a claim has no basis.
Officer meteorologists, astronomers, and the armed forces can not yet offer an explanation about this phenomenon.
The light was captured by amateur photographer Petter Jorgensen January when he was on his way to a place to work in a factory salmon.

“The light appears for 2-3 minutes. I could not believe my eyes, and a shivering and shocked by it,” Jorgensen said.
Morten Kristiansen, who saw the phenomenon of light from Sortland in northern Norway, adding, “A large ring appeared, and then spread out, sending the green beam down to earth,” he said.
