Bluetooth 4 Technology

Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) that handling the bluetooth technology standardization, have approved Bluetooth 4.0 technology. These technologies will be present in a variety of gadgets later this year. Mentioned Bluetooth SIG executive director Mike Foley, smartphones, laptops, smart meters and gadgets that use the coin-cell battery will be the first electronic device that uses the latest Bluetooth standard.
“The Chips with Bluetooth 4.0 standard has been through the process with a very long trial. Now the technology has been certified and licensed to be used on the chip and electronic devices,” Foley said, as quoted from PC World, Thursday (08/07/2010). He added that smartphones manufacturer, laptops and other gadgets have started to be able to design and produce the devices that can use these Bluetooth 4.0 technology.
Bluetooth 4.0 is the latest update Bluetooth wireless technology from the previous versions, Bluetooth 3.0, introduced in 2009. The advantages of this new standard is low power consumption when transferring data.
Instead of low power consumption, the Bluetooth 4.0 has the capability of high-speed data transfer than Bluetooth 3.0, and was mentioned could run over 802.11 WiFi networks to transfer data at 25 Mbps of speed.
